Selank

TP-7

Selank is the one for the anxiety you're managing with wine and a full calendar. It's a synthetic analog of tuftsin, a naturally occurring immune peptide. It adjusts GABA, serotonin, and dopamine without the sedation or dependence of benzos. No foggy days, no withdrawal timeline. About 40% of people in trials responded within 1-3 days, the other 60% needed around two weeks. It's primarily a nasal spray, not an injection, which makes the barrier to entry low. The clinical data is surprisingly solid: double-blind, placebo-controlled, HAM-A scores dropping by half. The catch is it's all from Russian institutions with no Western replication yet. Russia approved it in 2009 for generalized anxiety disorder and neurasthenia (basically chronic exhaustion and brain fog, which Russia still diagnoses as a thing).

Selank Protocol

Dose: 250-500mcg intranasal or SubQ per day (up to 2700mcg/day intranasal in clinical protocols) | Frequency: 2-3 times daily, intranasal preferred | Cycle: 14 days on, 1-3 weeks off to avoid receptor desensitization | Route: Intranasal (primary), SubQ (alternative)

Reconstitution: If using SubQ: 1mL bacteriostatic water per 5mg vial. Free reconstitution calculator.

Intranasal is the clinically studied route and what most people use. The Russian trials dosed 300mcg per nostril 3x/day. SubQ works but has less clinical backing.

Selank Dosing by Use Case

ConditionDoseDurationNotes
Generalized anxiety250-500mcg intranasal, 2-3x/day14 days on, 1-3 weeks offThe clinical indication. Russian trials showed HAM-A scores cut in half at day 14. Works by calming your GABA system (your brain's natural chill switch) and keeping your feel-good peptides (enkephalins) from breaking down too fast. No dependency, no withdrawal. If benzos work for you but you hate the dependency, this is the alternative people try.
Cognitive clarity and brain fog250mcg intranasal, 2x/day14 days on, 2 weeks offNot a stimulant. Selank clears the fog without adding jitter. Works well for people whose anxiety manifests as inability to focus rather than panic. Pairs with Semax if you want the cognitive boost alongside the calm.
Acute stress resilience300-500mcg intranasal, as needed or 2x/day14-day cycles around high-stress periodsSome people run Selank during specific high-stress windows (deadlines, travel, life events) rather than continuously. The 14-day cycle gives you a resilience window that can linger 1-2 weeks after stopping.
SSRI/benzo taper support250-500mcg intranasal, 2-3x/day14 days, timed with taper scheduleNot a replacement for medical supervision during a taper. Some people use Selank to bridge the anxiety gap while reducing benzo or SSRI doses. The different mechanism (GABA modulation vs direct GABA agonism) means it doesn't substitute for the drug, but it may take the edge off. Work with your prescriber.

Frequently Asked Questions About Selank

What is Selank?

Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide (7 amino acids) derived from tuftsin, a naturally occurring immune peptide. It was developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics in Russia and approved there in 2009 for generalized anxiety disorder and neurasthenia. It adjusts GABA, serotonin, and dopamine levels in your brain, without grabbing onto GABA receptors the way benzos do. That's why it reduces anxiety without causing sedation, cognitive impairment, or dependency.

What is the best Selank dosage?

Intranasal: 250-500mcg per dose, 2-3 times daily. The Russian clinical trials used up to 2700mcg/day (300mcg per nostril, 3x daily). Most community users run 250-500mcg total, 2-3x/day. SubQ: 250-500mcg once daily. Cycles are typically 14 days on, 1-3 weeks off. Start at the lower end. Some people respond at 250mcg. Going higher doesn't always mean more effect. It's not dose-dependent in a linear way.

What are the side effects of Selank?

The side effect profile is remarkably mild. Nasal irritation (12%) if using the spray. Mild fatigue (8%) in the first few days while your brain's calm system recalibrates. Occasional headache (5%), usually gone by day 3. No sedation, no cognitive impairment, no dependency. The clinical trials specifically tested for addiction potential and found none. Some anecdotal reports mention temporary hair thinning, but this hasn't appeared in any published study.

Selank vs Semax: what's the difference?

Both are Russian-developed heptapeptides, but they do different things. Selank is the anti-anxiety one. It calms, clears brain fog, and stabilizes mood by adjusting GABA and serotonin. Semax is the cognitive stimulant. It sharpens focus, improves memory, and increases BDNF through dopamine and norepinephrine pathways. Semax alone can feel edgy or overstimulating. Selank alone can feel too mellow for some. Together they balance each other. The classic Russian nootropic stack.

Selank nasal spray vs injection: which is better?

Intranasal is the clinically studied route. All the Russian trial data uses nasal delivery. It crosses the blood-brain barrier quickly through nasal mucosa, onset is 10-15 minutes, and you don't need needles. SubQ injection also works and may have slightly better bioavailability, but it has less clinical backing for Selank specifically. Most people use intranasal. If you already inject other compounds and prefer consistent dosing, SubQ is fine.

Is Selank addictive? Does it cause withdrawal?

No. The Russian clinical trials specifically evaluated addiction potential and found none. Selank adjusts your GABA system without latching onto the specific receptor that benzos hijack (GABA-A, the one that causes dependency). That's why there's no dependency. When you stop Selank, there's no rebound anxiety, no withdrawal symptoms, and no craving. Some people report the anxiolytic effect lingers for days to weeks after the cycle ends. This is the single biggest advantage over benzodiazepines.

How do you reconstitute Selank?

For SubQ injection: add 1mL of bacteriostatic water to a 5mg vial. That gives you 5mg per mL (5,000mcg per mL). For a 250mcg dose, draw 5 units on a U-100 insulin syringe. For 500mcg, draw 10 units. For intranasal use, the reconstitution depends on your spray bottle. A standard nasal spray bottle delivers about 100mcg per spray. Mix accordingly or buy pre-made nasal spray formulations.

Is Selank approved anywhere?

Yes. Selank was approved in Russia in 2009 as a prescription nasal spray for generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and neurasthenia. It completed double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials through the Russian regulatory system. It is NOT approved by the FDA, EMA, or any other Western regulatory body. No Western clinical trials have been conducted or are currently recruiting. The research peptide version used outside Russia is not a regulated pharmaceutical product.

Common Selank Stacks

Often run with: Semax.

Evidence

Emerging evidence. Russian clinical trials in GAD patients showed Hamilton Anxiety scores dropping from 20.3 to 7.0 in rapid responders. Double-blind, placebo-controlled data exists but it's all from Russian institutions. No Western replication yet. No addiction potential detected, which is a genuinely big deal for an anxiolytic.

Approval status: Approved in Russia as nasal spray. Not FDA-approved.
